2015 Pantone Color of the Year - Marsala

by Lydia Makepeace

Wino’s rejoice! Expect to see wine inspired hues in everything from cars to cosmetics. Pantone, the company known for it’s color matching system and trend forecasts, has announced the 2015 color of the year - Marsala

The hue is inspired by the Italian wine Marsala, a wine produced in the region surrounding the city of Marsala in Sicily. Pantone says of its selection:

"Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness. This hearty, yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors."
